Color Reproduction

In colaberation with Astro-Med Inc., we are doing research in color reproduction. At present stage, we are dealing with
representing solid colors more presicely and comprehensively by Astro-Med color printer. The conventional calibration
or 3-D interpolation method does not explore the all local combinations of binary CMY(K). We are going to investigate the
process color interaction in both spectral (CMYK on top of each other) and spatial (CMYK neighboring) domain.

Here are some interesting examples which inspired the investigation direction. We created the test images by repeating a
2x2 matrix, which gives the same local mean values in CMY(K). We are expected to get very similar colors, but..

There are several apparent reasons for this, such as poor registration, dot size variance, etc. However, we believe that there are some more fundamental reasons behind, i.e., color interaction in spatial and spectrum domain.
