Snapshots

Work of the team of Brown archaeologists lead by Martha S. Joukowsky at the site of the Great Temple in Petra, Jordan.

Before 1993

After nearly 10 years of work, in the summer of 2002.

A view at the preliminary 3D reconstruction (temple proper).

Snapshot from inside.

by E. Vote, N. Raford. & A. Walsky - June 2000.

Reconstructions by Eileen Vote, 2001.

Trench modeling by Eileen Vote, 2002. Three-dimensional models of the vast majority (70+)
of trenches from the Petra Great Temple excavation have been produced with help from six
undergraduates from Brown University. Each model is an exact replica of excavation trenches
from the excavation site in Jordan. A trench is essentially a three-dimensional recording of
the sediment and artifacts that are removed during the excavation process.
