Martha Sharp Joukowsky is a veteran of over 30 years as a field archaeologist specializing in the Near East. She has worked in Turkey and published the results of the prehistoric excavations in Aphrodisias in Turkey. Since 1992 she has directed the Brown University excavations at the Great Temple in Petra, in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.(see: http://www.brown.edu/Departments/Anthropology/Petra/ ).
Professor Joukowsky will present much of the physical evidence that the KDI project will focus on so attendance is encouraged for Faculty and Students involved or interested in becoming involved in the KDI project (key words: vision, 3D capture, interactive reconstruction and the use of virtual reality in Archaeology).
