Abstract

In communicating ideas to a general audience, artists have learned about representations of shape and about how to effectively use these tools as a substrate to convey more abstract ideas. While many of these lessons are implicit and subtle, some of this knowledge has necessarily been made explicit in the teaching process. Prof. Fishman will draw on illustrative examples from his teachings to elucidate the languages artists have used to talk about shape.
